Jacksonville Jaguars Star Lerentee McCray ARRESTED After Fleeing Police In A High Speed Chase

Another NFL star has been arrested in Florida this week, and this time a high speed chase was involved.  Details inside.

Jacksonville Jaguars lineman Lerentee Zavonne McCray was arrested on Sunday when a patrol officer with the Fruitland Park Police Department (FPPD)  saw his white Dodge Ram speeding on SR 205 a little after 1AM.  When the officer attempted to do pull him over with sirens & lights blazing, he allegedly fled and a high speed chase ensued.  The pursuit reached speeds of up to 100 mph. The cops report that McCray’s driving became extremely erratic, swerving across multiple lanes of traffic and endangering other vehicles, so they called off the chase for safety reasons.  He was then picked up about 15 minutes later in Tavares.

And it wasn’t just the eluding police situation that was problematic.  McCray allegedly flipped off the cops during the chase and then told them "Oh, my bad, that was you?" when cops interviewed him in the emergency room. Chile…

The Village-News reports:

McCray, who currently is a lineman on the Jacksonville Jaguar’s roster, was alone in the pickup, and displayed “an expletive hand gesture using the middle finger” toward the officer who initiated the traffic stop. McCray appeared to be in an “altered mental status” and was transported by Lake EMS to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares for a medical evaluation. During an interview at the emergency room, McCray asked the officer who had chased him, “Oh, that was you? My bad.”

The 31-year-old, who played on the 2015 Super Bowl winning Denver Broncos team, has been charged with fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement and was also cited for speeding. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.

Lerentee has a girlfriend and son he often shares pics of during their family vacations, and his son is usually front and center at dad’s games. Neither one was with him at the time, thankfully.

The former University of Florida Gator just celebrated 9 years in the NFL after signing as an undrafted rookie with Denver in 2013. Something tells us year 10 might be in jeopardy though….
